Just a quick message to thank everyone who came and supported our Macmillan coffee morning on Friday. The children from Meadows School in Wooburn Green drew some fantastic coffee cup pictures and they were the talk of the shop … so well done! Ross won the competition with prizes also going to Myles, Mason, Courtney, Joseph and Jessica.
The raffle has also now been drawn, so do come in to see if you have won!

Thanks again!

When we got back to the airport last week, Woo was met by our best friend and a Ford. Woo isn’t complaining but Woo still would’ve liked the treatment that a Tibetan Mastiff received when he arrived at Xi’an airport in China last Wednesday! He was met by 30 luxury cars and got a bow to wear … why didn’t Woo get a bow? It’s in Woo red!!! Woo wants a bow …..

Anyway, let me just stress again … a convoy of 30 black Mercedes-Benz cars, led by two sports utility vehicles, drove to the airport to pick up dog and owner AND … a committee of dog-lovers met them holding up a long red banner welcoming the mastiff to Xi’an.

Where was Woo’s committee of coffee lovers?!!!!!! 🙂

Woo doesn’t mind really, because we know they are all going to be with us on SEPTEMBER 25TH … to raise money for Macmillan and have a fantastic time as part of the World’s biggest coffee morning!

12 days and counting ….. 🙂

WBCM2009_120px-1

A week off …..

Yep! Even Woo has to have a holiday … so whilst we take our bucket and spade to a beach near us for a week, please remember remember the 25th September …

We will be raising money for Macmillan by donating the profits of the coffee we sell, as part of the world’s biggest coffee morning! We’ll also be having a great competition with children from Meadows school, Wooburn, decorating pictures of coffee mugs! The pics will be on display at Woo, and the best will win their picture printed on to canvas. We will also be having a raffle 🙂 other competitions and more … so put the date in your diary for this fantastic cause!

🙂 Woo Hoo!

SPLAT! ARGGGH! SPLAT!

There was a massive food fight last week … nah, not at Woo! We value our panini very highly and appreciate every last mouthful! 🙂 Anyway … we couldn’t get tens of thousands of people in our lovely coffee shop … as much as we’d like to … but that’s how many people hurled tonnes of ripe tomatoes at each other, in an annual food fight that leaves the eastern Spanish town of Bunol covered in red juice, pulp and all things tomatoey!!

200179423-001

Oooooooh!!!

More than 40,000 people, including many visitors from Britain, Austraila and the United States, took part in the fight known as the “Tomatina”. It’s now in its 64th year!

The town council provided the fighters with over 100 tonnes of tomatoes. The battle lasted about one hour and although Woo is a lover not a fighter, as you can see (and as reports confirmed) … “Many men were shirtless”  so Woo approves!!! Tomatina’s for all! Tomatina’s for all!!

After the battle,  local residents and workers used giant hoses to clear the walls and streets of the tomato pulp in just half an hour ….. while the participants headed to a nearby river. Temporary showers were set up and allegedly, much Woo was drunk!!! 🙂

WBCM2009_120px-1Remember remember the 25th of September!!!

Ha ha ha ha HA HA HA …..

The funniest joke at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival according to voters and comedy channel Dave is (drum roll) …

“Hedgehogs. Why can’t they just share the hedge?”

The one-liner came from London comic Dan Antopolski, who is known for his surreal stand up routines and love of Woo coffee (I made that bit up).

Dan said: “Although I have won things before at the Fringe, this definitely means the most to me, and that it should unite my loves of hedgehogs, comedy and Dave makes this prize very special.”

He also, allegedly, said that the only love of his life the joke left out was Woo Coffee ……

Don’t worry Dan … you can have a free latte if you tell us the hedgehog joke when you visit!!!

P.S. WBCM2009_120px-125th September at a WOO near you! (If you live in the Wooburn Green area) 🙂

This time next month …

WBCM2009_120px-1… Woo will be part of the World’s biggest coffee morning …

Would you expect anything less???

Put the date in your diary and come on down!!!!!!!!!

Would you adam and eve it?

Woo was off the blog yesterday … sorry … we were getting our hair done ….

HQ8592-001

Anyway, we’ve discovered that cash machines in East London are offering customers the option of using Cockney rhyming slang to get their hands on their bees n honey … that’s money to our international readers! 🙂

85746915

Yesterday, five ATM’s in the East End ‘went Cockney’ for three months … and anyone opting for Cockney rhyming slang (instead of English or any other available language!) will be asked to enter their Huckleberry Finn (PIN) before choosing how much sausage and mash (cash) they want …

200155660-002

Those wanting to withdraw 10 pounds will have to ask for a speckled hen …

72002354

… while the machine may tell more unfortunate users it’s contacting their rattle and tank (bank of course!!).

So … with all this going on, Woo thought it would put a visit to our lovely coffee shop through the cockney translator. We put it in …. and out came …

Blimey! I’m beef stroganoff down ter Woo ter missin’ link some lovely Joe Roffie an’ ‘ave a dorothy dandridge. Nuff said, yeah?

🙂 So now you know what to tell your china plates ……..

This blog should’ve been sung to the tune of ‘get off my cloud’ of course! 🙂

A recipe for ‘niceness’ …

What do you think would make you a nicer person?

A cup of Woo a day, all wrapped up and brought to you by the man/Woo-man of your dreams?

85330021

A wonderful chocolate brownie, slightly warm and just a little bit squidgy …

81988425

or a piping hot sun dried tomato and mozarrella panini, with the filling just oozing a tiny bit out of the sides? mmmmmmmmm …..

sb10063454j-002

That was certainly Woo’s answer … but as it turns out, that’s not the word in the news! WHY NOT is what we say!

Anyway, it seems that according to a recent study, if you want to be a nicer person get yourself a bat, ball and head out to the nearest green field …  yep … the recipe is …. a game of cricket!!! According to Loughborough University, it makes people better behaved and more cooperative!

Hmmmmmm …. well Woo thinks that if someone ran up to us at 100mph intending to chuck a ball as hard as nails in our faces, we’d be less than cooperative … especially if we were trying to make a latte at the time! And what’s more, if we were asked to do this ….

WA5284-001

This …

71926080

Or worse still, THIS …

WA1739-001

… we’d be in a really bad mood!!!!

Still, we do love watching a great game of cricket … come on England … but as for making people nicer, take a listen to the aussie sledging!

Woo thinks the only way that cricket can make you a nicer person is to say …

HM0479-001

Lunch at Woo of course! 🙂
